Danger Fast Foods
Eat fast food for a month without exercise, will increase levels of ALT (alanineaminotransferase) in the dangerous levels and can cause liver damage. However,HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) was also increased as a result of thisconsumption. Dr. Frederik Nystrom et al. from the University Hospital of Linkoping,Sweden, studied 18 men and women aged 20 years, slim and in good health. Theyeat fast food two times a day for 4 weeks. Volunteers are also asked not to exercise. The purpose of this study was to increase the weight as much as 10-15%,and measure the impact of the rapid increase in calorie intake is.
Blood samples were taken before, during and after the study, to monitor the levels of the enzyme ALT, a marker of liver damage is often found in heavy drinkers andpatients with hepatitis C.
ALT levels increased dramatically in just one week, and averaged into a 4-fold at theend of the study. One subject withdrew from the study, due to having a magnitude ofALT levels 10 times normal levels.
A total of 11 of the 18 subjects showed increased levels of ALT are normally reflectliver damage, even though subjects were not damaged like that. Two subjectssuffered from fatty liver.
Another discovery is surprising is that the signs of liver damage is more related tocarbohydrates, and not because of fat in the diet. Instead of fat in prepared foods isassociated with elevated levels of HDL-cholesterol (good cholesterol).
This might partly explain why the French are fond of eating butter, cream, cheese, and meat (fatty foods) in large quantities, it is generally only a few are suffering fromheart disease and hypertension.
